Let me guide you by answering some few questions about the NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA.


1. National Open University is it accredited in Nigeria?

The answer is yes, the National Open University of Nigeria is an accredited university by the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY COMMISSION (NUC) so there is nothing to worry about. All academic programs or courses are fully accredited by the NUC.


2. IS OPEN UNIVERSITY DEGREE RECOGNIZED?

Since there courses or programs are accredited by NUC, National open University degree is recognized by employers worldwide.

3. IS OPEN UNIVERSITY DEGREE RECOGNIZED ABROAD?

Yes the National open University degree certificate is accepted abroad, since it's a federal government owned University. National Open University of Nigeria has received international accreditation from the UK's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). 


4. IS NOUN accredited by ICAN?

The answer is NO. National Open University of Nigeria is not accredited by ICAN as it is still a work in progress. This means that NOUN accounting graduates will need to take additional exams before becoming a chartered accountant.


5. Does the NOUN do NYSC?

In the earlier years the National Open University of Nigeria do not go for NYSC as student are been given exemption letters to cover up as the NYSC CERTIFICATE. The good news is in 2024, president bola ahmed tinubu has directed that graduates from the National Open University of Nigeria must participate in the NYSC program. Don't allow anyone discourage you graduates from the National open University of Nigeria now go for NYSC program.


6. How much are NOUN school fees?

Depending on the course you applied for, school fees do not have fixed amount. As at 2019 to 2021, just budget as about N150k for school fees and some documentation.

7. How many years are NOUN Courses? 

Depending on the course you are studying, for example , computer science and business administration is 4 years. Undergraduates range from 1 - 8 years , while Post graduate and masters programs ranges from 1 to 3 years.

8. How do NOUN student receive lectures?

NOUN students can receive lectures through the school learning e-portal. Although most students in some faculties organize and pay lectures to come teach them. one good thing is you can study on your own as the school will provide all the necessary course materials every semester.

9. Do I need JAMB to apply for NOUN?

Yes you need a Joint Admission and Matriculation Board registration number to gain admission to the National Open University of Nigeria. You might not need to take the jamb examination itself.

10. Do NOUN have a campus?

The National Open University of Nigeria do not have a campus but they have study centers all across Nigeria where you can do documentations or receive lectures.
